Description

Kreatopita is a traditional Greek meat pie made with a flaky pastry crust and filled with seasoned ground meat.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned.
  4. Stir in parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  5. Mix in feta cheese.
  6. Layer phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with olive oil.
  7. Spread the meat mixture over the phyllo layers.
  8. Cover with more phyllo layers, brushing with olive oil.
  9. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Serve with a side salad.
  • Can be made ahead and frozen.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste.
