Description

A classic Southern sandwich featuring crispy fried green tomatoes, bacon, lettuce, and tomato.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 2 green tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  2. Dip the green tomato slices in buttermilk, then coat with cornmeal.
  3. Fry the coated tomato slices in the bacon grease until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Toast the bread slices in the same skillet until golden.
  5. Spread mayonnaise on each slice of bread.
  6. Assemble the sandwich with lettuce, fried green tomatoes, and bacon.
  7. Top with another slice of bread and slice in half to serve.
