Description

Watermelon sorbet is a delightful frozen treat made primarily from fresh watermelon, perfect for hot summer days. It’s light, fruity, and dairy-free, making it a great option for those who are lactose intolerant.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups watermelon: Make sure to use a medium-sized, ripe watermelon.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar: Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice: Adds a zesty kick.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt: Enhances flavors.
  • Fresh mint leaves: Optional garnish.
  • Crushed ice: For serving.

Instructions

  1. Select a ripe watermelon, wash it, and cut it into quarters.
  2. Remove seeds and cube the watermelon to get about 4 cups.
  3. Blend the cubed watermelon with sugar, lime juice, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze for 2-3 hours.
  5. Stir the mixture with a fork every 30 minutes until fully frozen, about 2-3 hours more.
  6. Serve in chilled bowls or glasses, garnished with mint leaves and on a bed of crushed ice.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness based on the watermelon’s natural sweetness.
  • Store leftover sorbet in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • Let sorbet sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving to soften.
