Description

Spicy Shrimp Pasta with Chili Lime Butter is a vibrant dish that combines large shrimp sautéed in a zesty chili-lime butter sauce with spaghetti, creating a delightful and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 grams (7 oz) spaghetti
  • 400 grams (14 oz) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add lime zest and juice, stirring to combine. Add the remaining butter and let it melt to create the sauce.
  5. Return the cooked spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. If needed, add reserved pasta water to adjust the consistency. Add the shrimp back in and mix well.
  6. Serve in bowls, garnished with cilantro and optional Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Alternative proteins like chicken or tofu can be used instead of shrimp.
