Description

Spiced Pear Crumble Bars are a delightful dessert that combines the sweetness of ripe pears with warm spices and a crumbly oat topping.


Ingredients

  • 4 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • A pinch of ground ginger or allspice (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine diced pears, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. In a large bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, granulated sugar, melted butter, and salt to create the crumble topping.
  4. Press half of the crumble mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, then spread the pear filling over it.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top of the pears.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let the bars cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
