Description
Soft pretzel bites served with a creamy cheese dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Coarse sea salt for topping
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured surface.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Boil water and baking soda in a pot.
- Cut dough into small pieces and boil each for 30 seconds.
- Place boiled bites on a baking sheet, brush with egg, and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- For cheese dip, melt butter in a saucepan, add milk and cheese, and stir until smooth.
Notes
- Adjust the salt to taste.
- Use different types of cheese for variety.
- Serve warm for best flavor.
