Description

Soft pretzel bites served with a creamy cheese dip.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt for topping
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured surface.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, covered.
  5. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  6. Boil water and baking soda in a pot.
  7. Cut dough into small pieces and boil each for 30 seconds.
  8. Place boiled bites on a baking sheet, brush with egg, and sprinkle with sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. For cheese dip, melt butter in a saucepan, add milk and cheese, and stir until smooth.
