- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup dry white wine

- Baguette slices
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
Instructions
- Slice the onions and place them in the slow cooker.
- Add butter, sugar, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth and white wine.
- Stir to combine the ingredients.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- When ready, ladle soup into bowls.
- Top each bowl with a baguette slice and sprinkle with cheese.
- Broil in the oven until cheese is melted and bubbly.

- For a vegetarian option, substitute vegetable broth.
- Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of sugar.
