Description

Soft and fluffy red velvet cinnamon rolls with a sweet cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for frosting consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm. Add to dry ingredients.
  3. Mix in egg, food coloring, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  4. Knead dough until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased pan and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  9. For frosting, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk for desired consistency.
  10. Spread frosting on warm rolls and serve.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for better color.
  • Ensure milk is warm, not hot, when mixing.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
