A rich and moist purple velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons purple food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
- Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost with cream cheese frosting once cooled.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Can be decorated with edible flowers.
- For a deeper color, add more food coloring.
