- 500 grams (1 pound) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
- Lime wedges, for serving
- Tortillas, for serving (flour or corn)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken and vegetables by slicing the chicken breasts and washing and slicing the bell peppers and onion.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced chicken with olive oil and all the spices. Toss until well-coated.
- Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add the seasoned chicken. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until tender and slightly caramelized.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, stir everything together, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges and warm tortillas.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken with hearty vegetables like portobello mushrooms and zucchini.
- Feel free to adjust spice levels by adding more chili powder or serving hot sauce on the side.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Cooked fajitas can be frozen for up to 3 months; thaw and reheat before serving.
