Description

A delightful dessert similar to brownies but with a lighter, golden color and a rich, caramel-like flavor from brown sugar and maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter: 1 cup (227 grams), melted
  • Brown sugar: 1 cup (220 grams), packed
  • Maple syrup: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon (5 ml)
  • All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 grams)
  • Baking powder: 1 teaspoon (5 grams)
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 grams)
  • Chopped walnuts: 1 cup (120 grams)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×9-inch (23×23 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar, then add the maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined, then fold in the chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Allow the blondies to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Overmixing the batter can lead to tough blondies.
  • Always preheat your oven for even baking.
  • Use a kitchen scale for accurate measurements.
  • Allow cooling time for better texture and easier cutting.
  • Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature.
