Description
A delightful dessert similar to brownies but with a lighter, golden color and a rich, caramel-like flavor from brown sugar and maple syrup.
Ingredients
- Unsalted butter: 1 cup (227 grams), melted
- Brown sugar: 1 cup (220 grams), packed
- Maple syrup: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon (5 ml)
- All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 grams)
- Baking powder: 1 teaspoon (5 grams)
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 grams)
- Chopped walnuts: 1 cup (120 grams)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×9-inch (23×23 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar, then add the maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined, then fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the blondies to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Overmixing the batter can lead to tough blondies.
- Always preheat your oven for even baking.
- Use a kitchen scale for accurate measurements.
- Allow cooling time for better texture and easier cutting.
- Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature.
