Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 1 ½ cups (190 g)
- Unsalted butter: ½ cup (113 g), melted
- Brown sugar: 1 cup (220 g), packed
- Maple syrup: ½ cup (120 ml)
- Pecans: 1 cup (120 g), chopped (plus extra for topping)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon (5 ml)
- Salt: ½ teaspoon (3 g)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, melted unsalted butter, and brown sugar until crumbly.
- Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased or lined 8×8-inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Gently stir in the chopped pecans.
- Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden, then pour the pecan filling over it.
- Sprinkle additional chopped pecans on top if desired.
- Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
- Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
