Description
A delightful treat combining sweet maple syrup and aromatic cinnamon in bite-sized pieces, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 3 cups (360 g)
- Active dry yeast: 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet)
- Milk: 1 cup (240 ml), warmed
- Granulated sugar: ¼ cup (50 g)
- Unsalted butter: ¼ cup (60 g), melted
- Ground cinnamon: 2 teaspoons
- Maple syrup: ½ cup (120 ml)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Powdered sugar: 1 cup (120 g), for glaze
- Additional maple syrup: 2-3 tablespoons, for glaze
- Salt: ½ teaspoon
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing warmed milk with granulated sugar and sprinkling yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add melted butter, eggs, and the frothy yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing ground cinnamon with maple syrup to create a smooth paste.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the cinnamon-maple paste evenly over the dough.
- Tightly roll the dough into a log and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover the pieces and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the bites for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar and additional maple syrup until smooth. Drizzle over warm bites.
Notes
- Ensure yeast is activated properly for a fluffy dough.
- Avoid over-kneading the dough to prevent toughness.
- Allow the dough to rise fully for best results.
- Measure ingredients accurately for consistent results.
- Watch for overbaking to maintain the right texture.
