Description
German potato dumplings are soft, fluffy balls made from potatoes. They are a perfect side dish for meat or served with sauces.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds of potatoes
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon of butter
Instructions
- Peel and boil the potatoes until soft.
- Drain and mash the potatoes until smooth.
- Let the mashed potatoes cool slightly.
- Add flour, egg, and salt to the potatoes and mix until combined.
- Form the mixture into balls.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
- Drop the dumplings into the boiling water.
- Once they float to the surface, cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove the dumplings and let them drain.
Notes
- Use starchy potatoes for better texture.
- Serve with gravy or sautéed onions.
- Store leftover dumplings in the refrigerator.
