Description
A quick and delightful garlic shrimp pasta recipe that combines rich flavors of garlic and succulent shrimp, perfect for busy weeknights or special occasions.
Ingredients
- Spaghetti: 250 grams (about 8 ounces)
- Shrimp: 400 grams (about 14 ounces), peeled and deveined
- Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
- Olive oil: 4 tablespoons
- Red pepper flakes: 1 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley: 1/4 cup, chopped
- Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons, freshly squeezed
- Grated Parmesan cheese: 1/2 cup (plus extra for serving)
- Salt and black pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Prepare all ingredients by measuring and chopping as needed.
- Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes, reserving 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat and sauté the shrimp until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes, sautéing until fragrant.
- Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat, and add reserved pasta water as needed for consistency.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet, add lemon juice and parsley, and toss to combine. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and additional parsley if desired.
Notes
- Overcooking the shrimp can make it rubbery; aim for 3-5 minutes of cooking time.
- Always salt the pasta water to enhance flavor.
- Reserve pasta water for a silky sauce.
- Taste as you go to adjust seasoning.
