Description
A classic Southern sandwich featuring crispy fried green tomatoes, bacon, lettuce, and tomato.
Ingredients

- 4 slices of bread
- 4 slices of bacon
- 2 medium green tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup lettuce
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
- Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Soak tomato slices in buttermilk for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge tomato slices in the cornmeal mixture.
- Fry in hot oil until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Toast bread slices.
- Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer bacon, fried tomatoes, and lettuce on one slice. Top with another slice of bread.
- Cut sandwich in half and serve.
Notes
- Use firm green tomatoes for best results.
- Adjust seasonings to your taste.
- Can substitute turkey bacon for a lighter option.
