A delicious birthday cake recipe inspired by Edward Kostyras.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 large eggs
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- For frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
- Pour batter into prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cakes and layer as desired.
Notes
- Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
- Decorate with sprinkles or fruit if desired.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
