Description

Crispy and soft on the inside, these French bread rolls are perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into small rolls.
  8. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Make a few slashes on top of each roll.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Store rolls in a paper bag to keep them crusty.
  • Can be frozen for later use.
