Ingredients

  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup dry white wine

  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until softened, about 15 minutes.
  3. Stir in sugar, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  4. Transfer onions to the crock pot.
  5. Add beef broth and white wine to the crock pot.
