Delicious Christmas cookies decorated with icing and sprinkles.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 to 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in egg and stir in vanilla and almond extract.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients.
- Roll dough into balls and place on baking sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Let cool on wire racks.
- Mix confectioners’ sugar with water to make icing.
- Decorate cookies with icing and sprinkles.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Use different cookie cutters for various shapes.
- Allow icing to dry completely before stacking cookies.
