Description

Chai Spiced Pear Bars are a delightful dessert that combines the warm flavors of chai spices with the sweetness of ripe pears. These bars are soft, chewy, and packed with flavor, making them a perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe pears
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon chai spice blend
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pears by peeling, coring, and dicing them into small pieces. Toss with a tablespoon of flour and set aside.
  2. Make the chai spice mixture by combining equal parts of ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and a pinch of cloves.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together remaining flour, baking powder, and chai spice blend in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the prepared pears, pour the batter into a baking pan, and bake in a preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Choose ripe, sweet pears like Bartlett or Anjou for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.
  • For gluten-free bars, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
  • For vegan bars, replace eggs with flaxseed meal or applesauce and use plant-based butter.
