Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 4 cups (plus extra for dusting)
- Active dry yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
- Milk: 1 cup (warm, about 110°F or 43°C)
- Sugar: 1/4 cup (granulated)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Butter: 1/2 cup (melted, plus extra for greasing)
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Pecans: 1 cup (chopped)
- Brown sugar: 1 cup (packed)
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
- Caramel sauce: 1 cup (for drizzling)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by combining warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and eggs. Add the frothy yeast mixture and whisk until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Prepare the caramel sauce by melting sugar in a saucepan, then adding cream and butter until smooth.
- Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread melted butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces.
- Place the buns in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top before serving.
Notes
- Ensure milk is warm to activate yeast.
- Allow dough to rise properly for fluffy buns.
- Watch for overbaking to keep buns moist.
- Drizzle caramel generously for the best flavor.
