Description
Cajun Sausage Garlic Butter Pasta is a delightful dish that combines the rich flavors of Cajun cuisine with comforting pasta, featuring spicy Cajun sausage and a creamy garlic butter sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 300 grams (10.5 oz) pasta: Choose fettuccine or penne for the best texture.
- 200 grams (7 oz) Cajun sausage: Sliced to add that spicy kick.
- 4 cloves garlic: Minced for a robust flavor.
- 60 grams (1/4 cup) unsalted butter: This will create a rich base for the sauce.
- 240 ml (1 cup) heavy cream: For a creamy and luscious sauce.
- 1 bell pepper: Diced; any color will work to add sweetness and crunch.
- 1 small onion: Diced to enhance the overall flavor.
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley: Chopped for a fresh finish.
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper: Adjust to taste for seasoning.
- 50 grams (1/2 cup) grated Parmesan cheese: For a cheesy, savory touch.
- Salt: To taste, enhancing all the flavors.
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat and sauté the sliced Cajun sausage for 5 to 7 minutes until browned and crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the diced onion and bell pepper for 3 to 4 minutes until the onion is translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Pour in the heavy cream, stir, and bring to a gentle simmer. Season with black pepper and salt. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water to adjust consistency.
- Add the cooked pasta and browned Cajun sausage back into the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired.
Notes
- Choose Cajun sausage for a spicy kick or substitute with Italian or chicken sausage for a milder flavor.
- Adjust spice levels by adding cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes if desired.
- Incorporate fresh herbs like basil or thyme for added flavor.
- Add vegetables like spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, or broccoli for extra nutrition.
- For a creamier sauce, consider adding cream cheese or ricotta.
