Description

A healthy and delicious alternative to traditional fries made from butternut squash, cooked in an air fryer for a crispy texture with less oil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium butternut squash (about 1 to 1.5 lbs)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Peel the butternut squash and cut off both ends. Slice it in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds.
  2. Cut the squash into slender fries, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the fries with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  6. Remove the fries from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Choose a butternut squash that feels heavy for its size and has smooth skin.
  • Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of the fries and desired crispiness.
  • Experiment with different spices and toppings for variety.
