Description
A healthy and delicious alternative to traditional fries made from butternut squash, cooked in an air fryer for a crispy texture with less oil.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium butternut squash (about 1 to 1.5 lbs)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
Instructions
- Peel the butternut squash and cut off both ends. Slice it in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds.
- Cut the squash into slender fries, about 1/4 inch thick.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the fries with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Remove the fries from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Choose a butternut squash that feels heavy for its size and has smooth skin.
- Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of the fries and desired crispiness.
- Experiment with different spices and toppings for variety.
