Description

A quick and delightful recipe for air fryer apple turnovers filled with sweet, spiced apples and wrapped in flaky puff pastry.

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheets: 2 sheets, thawed if frozen
  • Apples: 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • Brown sugar: 1/4 cup, packed
  • Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons, unsalted and melted
  • Egg: 1, for the egg wash
  • Salt: a pinch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by washing, peeling, coring, and dicing them.
  2. Make the filling by mixing diced apples with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, melted butter, and salt.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets and cut them into four equal squares.
  4. Assemble the turnovers by placing a spoonful of filling in the center of each pastry square, folding, and sealing them.
  5. Brush the tops with egg wash and preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Air fry the turnovers for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  7. Let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • Avoid overfilling the pastries to prevent mess during cooking.
  • Ensure puff pastry is properly thawed to avoid cracking.
  • Preheat the air fryer for even cooking.
  • Consider lightly spraying the tops with cooking oil for extra crispiness.
