Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add melted butter, warm milk, and egg to the dry ingredients.
  3. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Shape each piece into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover and let rise for another 15 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Brush with melted butter before serving.

  • Use warm milk, not hot, to activate the yeast.
  • Rolls are best served warm.
